Greater Shepparton City Council will begin rolling out bin collection frequency changes, starting with Kialla and Tatura from next week. All remaining households in the municipality will adopt the new schedule later in the year.
Bin collections in Kialla and Tatura will alter to see the green lid bin collected weekly and the red bin collected fortnightly. The yellow lid bin will remain a fortnightly collection. Council will be answering questions and assisting the community to implement the changes via online platforms and in person at local events.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, said the changes will help improve Greater Shepparton’s waste disposal practices.
“The changes form part of a State Government initiative to help reduce waste across the entire state. Many other councils within Victoria have already made the change in frequency collections.”
“We understand this is a big change, but know residents in Kialla and Tatura are up to the task. This is all about making improvements now to ensure we have a better future in reducing our waste.” Mr Randhawa said.
The changes will take effect in Kialla from Thursday 16 March and in Tatura from Wednesday 22 March.
Kialla – please place your red and green bin out the night before 16 March.
Tatura – please place your red and green bin out the night before 22 March.
