Greater Shepparton City Council are seeking community feedback to help shape the 2021-2031 Financial Plan
The Financial Plan is a 10-year forecast of Council’s finances that guides how the community’s needs and aspirations in the Council Plan and Community Vision will be resourced. Council is currently working to establish the next Financial Plan, and is calling on the community to share their thoughts and help shape the document.
The Financial Plan communicates key pieces of information, including assumptions for Council’s income and expenses, how much money Council plans to spend on Capital Works for the period and any proposed borrowings. With all these items in one place, Council then uses the Financial Plan to assess its financial viability for now and into the future.
“The Financial Plan will outline how much income Council plans to receive over the 10 years along with how much money they plan to spend to deliver key services and infrastructure to the community,” Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe said.
“Future financial pressures are uncertain so we review and update the Financial Plan regularly to make sure we’re prepared for the future.”
Council are urging the community to share their thoughts on the Financial Plan by completing a survey. The survey is open for community feedback from Monday 16 August 2021 until Wednesday 8 September 2021. Once closed, the feedback received will be collated and reviewed before the final copy of the Financial Plan is presented to Councillors for adoption.
“We encourage the community to have their say to help shape this upcoming Financial Plan,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“The plan is an important document for Greater Shepparton and Council value the community’s feedback. Council uses this document to ensure the needs and aspirations of residents are met and therefore we encourage everyone to share their thoughts.”
To have your say on the 2021-2031 Financial Plan visit the Shaping Greater Shepparton website.
A hardcopy of the survey will also be available to collect at Council’s Welsford Street office. For more information contact Council’s Finance and Rates department on (03) 5832 9700.
