The agreement paves the way for GRPSA to become the approved provider and operator of Katandra West Kindergarten from 2027, subject to the completion of final regulatory and administrative requirements.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said Council was delighted to be working with GRPSA to ensure the ongoing delivery of kindergarten services for local families.
"Council is committed to supporting strong early years services across our municipality, and we are pleased to have reached this important milestone for the Katandra West community," he said.
"While final regulatory approvals are still required, Council and GRPSA are working closely together to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of kindergarten services for families."
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Geoff Akers, Pine Lodge Ward Representative, said securing the future of the kindergarten was a positive outcome for local families and the community.
“Katandra West Kindergarten plays an important role in our community, providing local children with access to quality early learning close to home,” he said.
GRPSA is a well-established early years provider with extensive experience delivering quality kindergarten programs throughout the Goulburn region, including within the Moira, Strathbogie, Campaspe and Greater Shepparton local government areas.
“GRPSA is excited to have Katandra West as part of our Early Years Management organisation. We believe we have a similar philosophy and as we already are the approved provider of four other Greater Shepparton Kindergartens as well as Katamatite and Tungamah, the location is ideal for our management team to support the service,” GRPSA Chief Executive Officer, Ronni Druitt said.
“We would like to thank Greater Shepparton City Council staff and the Katandra West Community for their on-going support. The addition of Katandra West provides us with a wonderful opportunity to build on what we do best – provide high-quality early education,” she said.
As part of the transition, community members may begin to see changes to branding and communications associated with the kindergarten. These updates will support the transition and preparation for GRPSA's commencement as operator in 2027.
Council's Manager Early Years Operations and Reform, Stacey East, said the partnership would provide confidence for local families planning for their children's early learning.
"GRPSA brings extensive experience in delivering early childhood education services and we look forward to supporting the transition process over the coming months," Ms East said.
