Greater Shepparton City Council is excited to announce that the Victorian Morris Register Inc. is hosting the 24th National Rally here in Shepparton, from Wednesday 24 to Monday 29 April 2024.
Held in Victoria every eight years, this is the first time the Morris Registers National Rally has come to Greater Shepparton, presenting a unique opportunity to view over 100 iconic vehicles produced by Morris from 1913 until the late 1970’s.
In addition, the rally will include a number of vehicles closely related to Morris, including MG, Riley, and Wolseley vehicles. The vehicles will come from all over Australia for the rally, many of which have never been seen in Shepparton before.
The National Rally will commence with an opening ceremony at the Parklake Shepparton on Wednesday 24 April. Vehicles will drive to Tatura on Thursday morning (ANZAC Day) where they will spend the day. On Friday, the signature touring day will see vehicles travelling via Dookie to the Art Silo Trail, stopping at Goorambat for lunch, before returning to Shepparton in the afternoon.
Saturday 27 April will see the major public display where all of the vehicles will be on show at the John Pick Playground, Victoria Park Lake, Shepparton. People are welcome to attend and view the vehicles from 10.00am until 3.00pm. Attendees will be invited to judge the “People’s Choice”, the winner of which will be announced at the Presentation Dinner on Sunday night.
The vehicles will again be on display at the Museum of Vehicle Evolution (MOVE) on Sunday 28 April and this too will be open to the public as part of the usual entry arrangements to the museum. Again, the vehicles will be on site from 10.00am until around 3.00pm.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting the economic and community benefit it will bring to the region.
“It is fantastic to see a nation-wide event held here in Greater Shepparton, with the rally only in Victoria every eight years. We are extremely honoured to be the host of the 2024 National Rally,” he said.
“It will give our a region a great economic boost, with hundreds of people coming from all over the country to stay with us over the six days. It also gives our community an opportunity to see some amazing historic cars and learn more about them.”
