Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking nominations from local residents for the Sports Hall of Fame Advisory Committee.
The Sports Hall of Fame Advisory Committee oversees the Sports Hall of Fame for the Greater Shepparton region, recommends inductees to Council and celebrates their achievements through an official induction ceremony.
Membership of the Sports Hall of Fame Advisory Committee comprises of up to 10 members for a two-year term, including four representatives from Council including two Councillors, a senior staff member and Project Officer, and one representative from ValleySport.
Nominations are currently invited for the category of Community Members, with up to five representative positions available. Nominations for appointment to the committee are open until 5pm on Friday 4 February 2022.
Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe encouraged locals with an interest in sport and local sporting history to apply.
“The aim of the Sports Hall of Fame is to recognise and celebrate our local sporting history as well as individuals and teams who have achieved sporting excellence and made a significant contribution to their chosen sport,” she said.
“Now is the perfect opportunity for any community members with a keen interest in sporting activities across Greater Shepparton and the people who make our local sport so great, to be a part of this important committee. I encourage anyone interested to apply.”
