Greater Shepparton City Council brought the festive season to life as Sparkle Shepparton and Sparkle Mooroopna drew large crowds across the weekend.
In Summary
Families, friends and visitors gathered at Victoria Park Lake on Friday 28 November and Ferrari Park on Saturday 29 November to enjoy food trucks, activities, live entertainment and the official switch-on of Council’s Christmas decorations.
Approximately 1,000 people attended the two events across the weekend, showing strong community support in both Shepparton and Mooroopna.
In Shepparton, Celine the Bauble and Leroy the Teddy Bear lit up the lake for the first time, creating a bright centrepiece for the evening. In Mooroopna, Bernard the Gingerbread Man made his debut, joining illuminated stars, trees and other festive displays placed throughout Ferrari Park. All decorations are now part of the region-wide Christmas Trail and will remain on show throughout December.
Both events formed part of Council’s A Wonder Filled Summer campaign, designed to support local businesses, encourage visitation and celebrate the region.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the community turnout showed how much the region values coming together during the festive season.
The decorations unveiled across the two nights are also featured on the Christmas Trail, which invites residents and visitors to explore installations across the municipality. The Trail links with Santa’s Missing Elves, an interactive digital hunt available through the Greater Shepparton app.
Council encourages the community to follow the Christmas Trail and enjoy festive fun across the region. Get out and support local businesses and take part in the many activities planned as part of A Wonder Filled Summer.
