Greater Shepparton City Council is gearing up to launch a new campaign to raise awareness of local businesses and highlight the unique experiences and offerings in our shopping precincts and small-town strips.
The campaign invites the community to discover Greater Shepparton one business at a time and shop local, and shop closer to the businesses that help shape our neighbourhoods and towns.
Starting Monday 8 September, Council will be showcasing 15 business precincts, featuring one business precinct per fortnight highlighting their offerings through an array of custom-made social media content and promotional opportunities.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the campaign is an opportunity to recognise the important role local businesses play in the community.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our community. The Spotlight on Business campaign aims to encourage our residents to discover the diverse range of businesses in our small towns and neighbourhood shopping precincts,” he said.
“We want people to shop local, shop closer to the things they love. You might be surprised to find shops just around the corner from home, or on your daily commute that have everything you need.
“It is not just about the products and services these businesses offer, but connecting our community to the people behind these businesses who contribute so much to our region.”
Council’s Economic Development Engagement Coordinator, Karen Mellington, shared the importance of the campaign, saying it provides a voice to lesser-known businesses in the region.
“We are excited to provide a platform that allows small businesses to share their stories and reach more customers,” she said.
“This campaign will showcase some of our lesser-known retail areas that shape our neighbourhoods and small towns, inviting the community to discover the diverse offerings nearby and giving business owners the chance to share what they do best.”
Council encourages residents to follow Greater Shepparton City Council on Facebook and Instagram and visit shepp.city/spotlight for more information and updates.
