Greater Shepparton City Council is gearing up for works to start on the new $1.2 million Toolamba Multi-Sport Court Redevelopment from Monday 1 September 2025.
In Summary
The contract for the development, funded by $847,000 from Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund and the remaining contribution from Council, Toolamba Tennis Club, Toolamba Lions Club and Toolamba Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, was awarded to local contractor Jarvis Delahey Contractors, with works expected to commence next week and run until mid-December.
The new facility will include four new tennis courts with an overlay netball court, fencing, lighting, drainage, acrylic playing surface and new supporting infrastructure including seating, shelter, tennis posts and nets, and netball goals.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the development was a timely upgrade for the Toolamba community with usage of the current tennis courts increasing significantly in recent years.
“The current tennis courts are being utilised all year round for tennis coaching, mid-week competitions, as well as frequent use by the Toolamba Primary School which is located just across the road,” he said.
The works will be staged, with Council working closely with user groups to ensure there is minimal disruption during construction.
Cr Paul Wickham, Goulburn River Ward, said the new facilities would be a huge win for the community.
Tennis Victoria CEO, Kim Kachel, said they were proud to have supported the project.
"Toolamba Tennis Club has shown great commitment to growing participation and providing playing opportunities for their community. In completing our Thriving Tennis Communities framework, the health of their current participation was highlighted. This upgrade will give them the platform to strengthen that even further,” he said.
"With existing programs like Hot Shots (volunteer delivered), community social play and competition already running, the improved facility will allow the club to expand into new offerings such as Cardio Tennis, ensuring even more people can get active and enjoy the game.
Council will keep the community informed of any changes to traffic or pedestrian movement in and around the facility during construction. Traffic management will be in place where appropriate and motorists and pedestrians are advised to follow all signage when travelling in the area.
Council thanks the community for their patience during these upgrade works.
