Greater Shepparton City Council has awarded two key contracts at its April Council Meeting, delivering improved flood preparedness and safer pedestrian access in the region.
The contract for Floor Level Surveys in Kialla, Mooroopna and Shepparton was awarded to Onley Consulting Pty Ltd for $300,631.31. The survey, delivered in partnership with the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority, will collect updated floor level data to support emergency flood planning across several key areas.
Covering Kialla, Mooroopna, Shepparton, Shepparton East and North, Toolamba, and rural areas near major waterways, the project aims to strengthen local flood mapping and intelligence. It will support agencies such as Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) in planning for and responding to flood events, including evacuations.
Surveyors will require access to property doorsteps from mid-April to mid-September, however they will carry identification and a letter from Council, and will not enter homes or outbuildings.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the project enhances flood readiness across the municipality.
“This is a crucial investment in our community’s safety, helping us better prepare for future flood events,” he said.
Council also awarded a contract to Mawson Constructions Pty Ltd for $399,851.76 to construct the Grammar Park Shared Path along the Goulburn Valley Highway in Shepparton.
The 600-metre, 2.5-metre-wide path will link Grammar Gardens Estate with Goulburn Valley Grammar School, providing a safer, more accessible route for students and pedestrians. Works will include concrete and asphalt surfaces, drainage, fencing, and earthworks.
“This new shared path is a fantastic outcome for the community, particularly local families,” Cr Sali said.
