Council will temporarily move the Maude Street bus interchange to Corio Street to allow construction works to commence on the next stage of the Maude Street revitalization project.
The temporary bus interchange in Corio Street will be used from Monday 2 November, 2020 and will be located between Vaughan Street and Ashenden Street.
Once the upgrade of the Maude Street/Vaughan Street intersection is complete bus services will transfer over to the new bus interchange in Maude Street.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said “Greater Shepparton bus users will be able to catch buses from the temporary location in Corio Street while works are underway on the intersection. The temporary location will enable the roundabout at Vaughan and Maude Street to be changed into a signalised intersection and the redevelopment works between Vaughan and High Streets to be constructed. Corio Street was chosen as the temporary location as there are already bus stops in this location, the street has sufficient room for bus movements and remains close to the original interchange within the shopping precinct.”
“We have a modern new bus interchange in Maude Street that is ready for use once the next stages of works in Maude Street are completed and we look forward to buses using that site as soon as possible. We understand that this may be inconvenient for some during this interim period however we are looking forward to being able to have the new interchange operational as soon as possible.” said Mr Hoare.
Council has been liaising with bus companies and PTV to ensure bus users are able to continue to use the bus services around Shepparton and Mooroopna. There will be no alterations or impacts to the current bus schedules and wayfinding signage will be erected within the precinct to show the community where to find the temporary bus interchange.
The Maude St revitalization works will include a streetscape upgrade between Vaughan and High Street and the conversion of the Maude and Vaughan Street roundabout into a signalised intersection.
