Now in its 17th year, the Volunteer Recognition Awards are an opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers who contribute their time and energy for the good of our community.

Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged members of the community to nominate someone they know who has made a meaningful difference to the lives of others.

“Whether it’s young people supporting their peers, volunteer groups providing community services, or senior residents giving their time and experience to help others – all nominations are welcome,” he said.

Nominations are open to people whose volunteering occurred within the Greater Shepparton Local Government Area. The four award categories are:

  • The Bella Ainsworth Young Volunteer: 12 to 25 years of age.
  • Adult Volunteer: 26 years of age and over.
  • Volunteer Team: A group of two or more people.
  • Long Serving Volunteer: 15 years or more service.

All nominees and nominators will be invited to celebrate at the Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony in May 2026.

“It’s important for us to acknowledge and thank volunteers who make a difference. Their selflessness strengthens our community, and recognising their efforts helps inspire more people to step forward and contribute,” he said.
